IGFA (International Game Fishing Association) Rules Explained

Leader Measurement

Leader Measurement

Current IGFA rules state: “The length of the leader is the overall length including any lure, hook arrangement or other device.”

This sometimes causes confusion with anglers causing them to measure incorrectly from the end of the jig, lure and so on.

This rule has been amended to read: “The length of the leader is the overall length including any lure, hook arrangement or other device, and is measured to the bend of the last hook.”
